What is Lark?

It’s a high-quality Milwaukee apartment community designed especially with Marquette University students in mind. Lark on 14th features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a 24-hour fitness center, parking garage and street-level restaurants, all just across the street from the MU campus.

Is Lark part of Marquette University?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Lark on 14th has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rent?

Each resident at Lark on 14th pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • Flat-panel HDTV in living room
  • High-speed Internet
  • Trash removal
  • Community features – fitness center, clubroom, etc.

What size are the apartments at Lark?

The spacious accommodations at Lark on 14th range from studios to 4-bedroom floorplans, with available private bathrooms.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Lark on 14th have a furniture package, which varies based on floorplan. Furnishings include a full-size bed, storage dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, plus a loveseat and/or sofa, coffee table, 40-inch TV and entertainment stand in each living room. When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 15, 2024 to August 01, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final installment.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Lark on 14th also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Lark?

Your living costs at Lark on 14th can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Lark on 14th. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Lark open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Lark on 14th are students at Marquette University with some from MATC and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Residents/families with children are welcome. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. Lark is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Lark on 14th has a monitored fire sprinkler system, plus electronic locks and individually locking bedroom doors.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Lark on 14th is pet-friendly in select apartments, with limitations on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Lark?

Lark offers optional parking in our heated, attached parking garage for an additional charge. Spaces are limited are not a guarantee when signing a housing agreement. Additional parking is located nearby on 17th and Wells in the Marquette owned structure. A student parking permit is required and can be obtained through the school.

What other transportation options will I have?

Lark on 14th is located across the street from the Memorial Union and just steps from the MU campus and multiple restaurant and entertainment options. Five MCTS bus routes also stop within two blocks of the community.
